Wish Jump 2012 is the second annual skydiving fundraiser for MAKE-A-WISH® NORTHEAST NEW YORK. Last year, Make-A-Wish volunteer Mary Kenney wanted to organize a fundraiser that involved a little more adrenaline than a bake sale. Having gone skydiving once before in Hawaii during law school, it seemed like the perfect alternative to brownies and bundt cake. Nine brave jumpers took to the skies, tested their fears, and in doing so they raised over $8,000.00! Without hesitation, everyone agreed this had to be an annual event. It truly is the most exciting fundraiser in the Capital Region! Spectators welcome!
This year is Make-A-Wish Northeast New York’s 25th Anniversary! 25 Wish Jumpers are on a mission to each raise a minimum of $500 to support the organization in its mission of granting the heartfelt wishes of children with life-threatening medical illnesses.
Wishes like riding sport horses in Ireland, fishing in Alaska, meeting favorite superheroes, becoming a fireman, having a brand new violin, or having the most awesomest tree house on the block. We believe that these wishes truly have the power to heal. They offer the child and family an escape from doctors, tests, and uncertainty. They offer a chance to imagine and dream, and to have something fun to look forward to – something that’s beneficial for both mind and body. Wishes offer hope, strength, and joy.
